How it works

From sales to shelf in four aisles.

Shelfcast runs inside your Shopify admin. Everything it changes, it changes in Shopify, so your stock levels stay the single source of truth.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Sync

Install, and Shelfcast reads your products, stock and recent sales from Shopify, then keeps up as they change.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Forecast

Every product gets a daily demand forecast. Days it was out of stock are left out, so a sell-out never looks like a slow week.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Order

What’s short becomes a suggestion for each supplier, rounded to their minimums and pack sizes. Send the purchase order and Shopify shows the stock as incoming.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Receive and count

Scan the delivery in and stock moves from incoming to available. Count the shelves later without overwriting the sales made while you count.

Bring your data

Start with the history you already have.

Put your suppliers, purchase orders and adjustments in a spreadsheet, save it as a CSV file and drop it into Shelfcast. Importing is included in every plan. Switching from Stocky? Themoving guide walks you through it.

How importing works
  1. 01

    suppliers.csv

Names, contacts, emails, lead times and currencies.

  2. 02

    supplier-products.csv

Supplier SKUs, costs, minimums and pack sizes, matched by SKU or barcode.

  3. 03

    purchase-orders.csv

Open and past orders, with what was ordered and received.

  4. 04

    adjustments.csv

Your adjustment history, with who made each change and why.

What’s on the shelf

Everything between a sale and the next delivery.

Forecasting, purchase orders, receiving, labels and counts, built into one app that works the way your stockroom already does.

  • Forecasts that skip stockouts

Seasonal, steady and new-item forecasts, picked per product. Days a product was out of stock don’t drag its demand down.

  • Suggestions per supplier

Each suggestion covers the supplier’s lead time and your safety days, then rounds up to their minimum and pack size.

  • Purchase orders suppliers can read

Email the order with a CSV of its lines and a printable copy. Use your own numbers or your supplier’s, and add freight, duties or discounts.

  • Receive by scan

Scan a barcode, SKU or supplier SKU with a scanner or your phone’s camera. Partial deliveries and extra units are handled.

  • Barcode labels

Print a Code 128 label for every unit you receive, on a thermal label roll or Avery 5160 sheets.

  • Stock counts on any device

Count a location, vendor or supplier on a computer or phone. Counts are kept on the device if the Wi-Fi drops.

  • A history of every change

See each stock change with the reason, the purchase order or count behind it, and who made it in Shelfcast.

  • Variants under their product

Products, reorder lists and stock show each variant grouped under its parent, the way you think about your range.

  • Import and export

Bring suppliers, purchase orders and adjustment history in from CSV, and download them again whenever you like.

No black box

Every suggestion shows its working.

A suggestion is plain arithmetic: enough stock to last until the next delivery arrives and then some, less what you already have and what’s already on order. You set the lead time, how long an order should last and how many safety days to keep.

How forecasting works

Counts you can trust

Shelfcast never overwrites a number.

Every change goes to Shopify as an adjustment, never as a new total. A sale rung up at the till while you count, or while a delivery is being received, still counts. Each change is logged with its reason, the order or count behind it, and the person who made it.

How it compares

The essentials at a small-shop price.

Purchase orders, receiving and stock counts come with every Shelfcast plan, and the price doesn’t climb as your sales grow. Here’s how that compares with three other apps retailers look at after Stocky.

Questions

What retailers ask before switching.

The help center covers every screen in detail. Still stuck? Email [email protected] and a person will reply.

Can I bring my existing data with me?

Yes. Put your suppliers, supplier products, purchase orders and adjustment history in spreadsheets, save them as CSV files and import them into Shelfcast in that order. Importing is included in every plan. Stocktakes and transfers aren’t imported. Switching from Stocky? The help center’s moving guide walks you through it.

Does it work with Shopify POS?

Yes. Sales from every channel, POS included, feed the forecasts, and stock changes made on POS appear in your inventory history. Stock counts run in the Shopify admin on a computer or a phone.

How much sales history does it need?

When you install, Shopify shares your last 60 days of orders, and Shelfcast keeps adding to that history every night. Newer and steady sellers forecast from day one. Seasonal forecasts start once a product has a year of history.

Will it overwrite my stock levels?

No. Receiving and counts are sent to Shopify as adjustments, never as replacement totals, so sales made at the same time are kept. A stock count compares each product with what Shopify has on hand at the moment you count it.

Do I need a barcode scanner?

No. You can type quantities, use any USB or Bluetooth scanner that types into the page, or scan with your phone’s camera inside the Shopify app.

What about more than one location?

Each purchase order delivers to one location and each count runs at one location. Forecasts and suggestions are worked out across all your active locations together. Starter covers one location, Growth up to five and Pro any number.

How is billing handled?

Through Shopify, on your regular Shopify bill, every 30 days. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, and you can change plans from Settings at any time.

What happens if I uninstall?

Your data is kept for 48 hours in case you change your mind. After that, when Shopify tells us the store has left, everything Shelfcast stored for it is deleted. Export anything you want to keep first.

Your next purchase order is half written already.

Install Shelfcast, let it read your catalog and sales, and see what each supplier should send you next.
